Save the Date: California Gift Show

Come January 16, Los Angeles will be the venue for yet another award show – though instead of honoring actors and writers, it will recognize stand-out gift products.
The California Gift Show created its STARS Awards as a way to acknowledge the best of what over 350 vendors will have to offer this year.
“With hundreds of new products introduced to the market each show, we wanted to acknowledge those products that shine brightly above the others,” said Angelia Singleton, show director, in a statement.
According to Singleton, a panel of consumer and trade press members will select five to ten entries for each of STARS categories: Home and Garden, International, Handcrafted, Fashion Accessories, Resort, Gifts, and Green. The featured products will have their own display at this year’s show.
“When our buyers are attending and coming to the show, a big part of it is when they come to … see what new companies and existing clients are manufacturing, so they can see what’s hot and hip,” Singleton said in a phone interview. “We decided that we would make it easier for them.”
As they navigate through the Los Angeles Convention Center, buyers can also vote for for their favorites to win the Retailer’s Choice Award. Liezel Munez Gunn, West Coast contributing editor of Oprah Winfrey’s “O,” is one of the confirmed judges.
The California Gift Show runs 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday-Sunday, Jan. 16-18; and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. each day. For more information, call 213-430-2300 or visit www.californiagiftshow.com.
